Magnificent mushrooms.
We’re surrounded by fungi and without it we and our planet wouldn’t survive.
From penicillin to beer, fungi is to thank for countless everyday products, while also being the world’s biggest recycler - responsible for breaking down compounds and turning them into nutrients.
Mushrooms are the fruit of fungi. Their purpose is to disperse millions of spores into the air to be carried by the wind and hopefully land in a good spot to grow a new colony.
Fortunately for us, the fruit can taste really good and be beneficial for our health – not just as a great source of fibre, but also nutritious for the gut and brain.
For me, it’s not just the unique flavour and texture that appeals. Mushrooms are so quick and easy to prepare and cook. Take a look at my recipe page for simple ways to a delicious meal.
There’s nothing as marvellous as a mushroom!
